#47. I Swear to God this is Probably the Last Catching Shit Filler also it's Short

Why did I even come back here in the first place? There's a gross dumpster.

Oh. . .

Well ANYWAY. Let's continue this wilderness trek.

OH WELL LOOK. MORE GRASS.

There is no compassion in those dead, avian eyes.

Spearow

It flaps its short wings to flush out insects from tall grass. It then plucks them with its stubby beak. Very protective of its territory but inept at flying high, Spearow flaps its short wings busily to dart around at high speed. Spearow has a very loud cry that can be heard over half a mile away. If its high, keening cry is heard echoing all around, it is a sign that they are warning each other of danger. Even if it looks frail, it can be a tough foe that uses Mirror Move.
Choro Notes: Spearow is easily my favorite "Generic early game bird." They're just so angry. Like Dire Sparrows but less pointy.
Zorak Notes: There are a lot of generic little normal type birds out there. Spearow? Easily the best, other than maybe a new Gen V contender. He's a hateful sparrow that is nasty in a good way!
HulkaMatt Notes: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Oh you are goddamned kidding me.

Hey yeah that thing didn't almost KO Nevica at all, nope.

Fearow

Fearow is recognized by its long neck and elongated beak. It has a surprisingly long reach, so it must be treated with caution. They are conveniently shaped for catching prey in soil or water. It deftly moves its long and skinny beak to pluck prey. It's know to shoot itself suddenly high into the sky, then plummet down in one fell swoop to strike its prey. It has the stamina to fly all day on its broad wings.
Choro Notes: Fearow was kinda obsoleted in his own generation thanks to Dodrio, but dammit the thing has character. I use one over Staraptor personally!
Zorak Notes: It's a colossal cormorant/anhinga and I am totally down with that. Love this guy.
HulkaMatt Notes: Alternative to Pidgeot in Gen 1. Never raised one. Kind of regret it!
Reinanigans named this

Oh jeez, I've read about these. DON'T PLAY DEAD IT JUST MAKES IT ANGRIER.

Choro Notes: This is the PokéRadar monster of this route, plus the less common Mankey.

Primeape

When Primeape becomes furious, its blood circulation is boosted. In turn, its muscles are made even stronger. However, it also becomes much less intelligent at the same time. It grows angry if you see its eyes and gets angrier if you run. If you beat it, it gets even madder. If approached while asleep, it may awaken and angrily give chase in a groggy state of semi-sleep.
Choro Notes: I used a Primeape once. They're pretty sweet dudes. They can have Iron Tail despite not having one.
Zorak Notes: Primeape are a cool attack/speed focused fighting type. They are monkeys that are ANGRY AS FUCK ALL THE TIME.
HulkaMatt Notes: PRI PIIRRIR PRIRPMMAAPEE I mean, Primeape is probably the Pokémon I have raised the most. I swear I've raised it like 5 times in 5 different games. It's a cool looking Pokémon and the one on the TV show did a great job of making it look like an awesome awesome pokémon. They're pretty great.

Hey. Wait, STOP. I SEE YOU OVER THERE STAY AWAY.

Ughghghghghhhh You have no idea how wrong you are.

I don't see how a dragon-type champion would work well. I mean really ANY type-themed trainer. You're just setting yourself up to one weakness!!!

Is that really all I came up here for?

Uhhhh.

I hate this region and everyone in it.

Ok, bugs sure. Rats? No. GIANT rats? Hell no.

Raticate

A Raticate's sturdy fangs grow steadily. To keep them ground down, it gnaws on rocks and logs. It may even chew on the walls of houses. It has been known to be the cause of concrete buildings toppling by gnawing on them. It uses its whiskers to maintain its balance. It apparently slows down if they are cut off. Its hind feet are webbed and enable it to cross rivers. It searches wide areas for food.
Choro Notes: Dire Rat (but slightly less pointy).
Zorak Notes: He's a big rat! He has big teeth.
HulkaMatt Notes: Fucking terrifying in every way. Gigantic rats who could bite your leg off.

I REALLY wish Ace Trainers would just FACE me.

Ho Hum. Maybe I really SHOULD check out the Battle Frontier.

I will give props to this area looking neat, though.

So purple.

What kind of rat is purple?!

Rattata

Rattata is cautious in the extreme. Even while it is asleep, it constantly listens by moving its ears around. It is not picky about where it lives—it will make its nest anywh-re. Its fangs are long and very sharp. They grow continuously, so it gnaws on hard things to whittle them down. Rattata bites anything when it attacks. Small and very quick, it is a common sight in many places.
Choro Notes: It's purple. Why is it purple? I haven't even noticed that this is such a strange thing until literally an hour before posting this.
Zorak Notes: No matter how good a Rattata you get, it'll never be better than one kid I know of. I hear it's like his Rattata is in the top percentage of Rattata.
HulkaMatt Notes: Extremely common rodents. I like em. Even if they do turn into fucking terrifying monsters.

You know what? This just leads back to the Fight Area. Screw this, I'm going back to Sinnoh.

~~Today's Swarm monster~~

Larvitar

Larvitar is born deep under the ground. To come up to the surface, this Pokémon must eat its way through the soil above. Until it does so, Larvitar cannot see its parent's face. Once it has eaten a large mountain, it goes to sleep so it can grow.
Choro Notes: Without looking at that sheet up there, you could probably not name his ability.
Zorak Notes: Larvitar and its entire evolutionary line are complete badasses, though somewhat overused. It's to be expected of something that is essentially a mountain eating monster that becomes a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
HulkaMatt Notes: THE 1ST STAGE OF AN EVENTUAL 600. My favorite of the five 600 monsters. IT'S A GOD DAMNED DINOSAUR! Who the hell DOESN'T want to raise a Dinosaur? (Girls)

--Later!--

Ice, still sick of it.

Not sure how I missed this.

I'm pretty chosen!

Candice why are you out here, up to your chest in snow. Are you still wearing that short skirt? You are going to die. STOP IT.

Hmmmmmph

So my Pokédex mostly gets me into archaeological sites, huh? Good to know. Good to know.

. . . I know those types.

Oh wow, it's like a little kewpie doll but without the creepy dollness factor mixed in.

So haughty! Like Nevica but tiny!

Choro Notes: What you didn't see was the Smoochum managing to KO Nevica with a Psychic, then dropping a Perish Song once Moaniki came out. This thing did NOT want to be captured.

Smoochum

Smoochum tests everything by touching with its lips, which remember what it likes and dislikes. It always rocks its head slowly backwards and forwards as if it is trying to kiss someone. Smoochum actively runs about, but also falls quite often. Whenever the chance arrives, it will look for its reflection to make sure its face hasn't become dirty.
Choro Notes: Smoochum used to be a swarm monster in Diamond/Pearl, up at the lake near Snowpoint. Imagine it, just the cold silence of a snow forest, as the sound of hundreds of kisses echo off of the trees.
Zorak Notes: I never got the "LIPS MOST SENSITIVE PART OF BODY" gimmick, what since that's true of humans too. Maybe gamefreak didn't get the memo?
HulkaMatt Notes: Sassy~ Babby Jynx

Do two haughty things get along well together? Or is it a negative + a negative thing?

I've gotta be honest, this is the most boring temple I've been in this month.

Choro Notes: I still enjoy these puzzles!

Whoa, now I may not be a Pokémon. But If I were I CERTAINLY wouldn't dress like THAT. THAT dress with THAT lipstick? Oh jynxie jynxie.

Though even if I were I'd probably end up being something dumb like one of those rabbits. I'm aware of my luck. D:[

Jynx

Jynx walks rhythmically, swaying and shaking its hips as if it were dancing. It appears to alter the rhythm depending on how it is feeling. Its motions are so bouncingly alluring, people seeing it are compelled to shake their hips without giving any thought to what they are doing. Its cries sound like human speech. However, it is impossible to tell what it is trying to say. Either way, it seems to prefer using dance to communicate.
Choro Notes: I like Jynx, Electabuzz and Magmar may have forgotten it but I HAVEN'T. They're kind of like a budget Alakazam but with the Ice-type and a sleep-inducing move that's highly accurate.
Zorak Notes: Jynx is supposedly racist, but honestly, I think it's more a cultural misunderstanding; I'm pretty sure she's supposed to be inspired by the Ganguro style that is, in turn, inspired by mythological Mountain hags. I'm not sure the incident black face is intended, honestly.
HulkaMatt Notes: Jynx used to be a blackface then wasn't a blackface anymore.
Zorak named this

Music: Ruby/Sapphire - Sealed Chamber - Anime Arrangement

So, this is it, huh?

Is something carved into its chest?

. . . I bet I know what to do next.
